The Everett: Spring 2025

The Everett plans to honor historic architecture with a modern flare and will be located on the corner of Simonton and N Pacific and will offer 25,000 square feet of retail storefronts. It will reside in the historic place where Henry Bascom Everett opened one of Conroe’s first mercantile stores at the time costing only $500.

The historic building burned down in 1911 and was rebuilt being named the Randolph Building. Four years later the Everett’s purchased the building and numerous stores existed such as Everett Cash Grocery, Everett & Son, Everett & Sons Hardware, and Everett’s TruValue Hardware and the building was passed down through the family until closing in 1998 as Everett Hardware after 89 years of business.

Pacific Lofts: Spring 2025

Pacific Lofts will reside above the current Homestead House furniture store building which was built in 1890 and was at one time the Conroe Hotel before burning down in 1891. Conroe’s founder Isaac Conroe originally owned the store before selling it to Conroe businessman John Wahrenberger who created his first store in the building.

The Witherspoons later purchased the store returning the building to a hotel and adding brick to the structure. In 1977 many owners later Bartholet’s bought and demolished the hotel salvaging as much brick as possible to rebuild the building that stands today and houses the Homestead House furniture store.

According to their website, Lindsey Properties plans to build above the current structure adding two additional stories offering loft-style apartments for rent, while the first current story remains retail storefronts. This will be an amazing feature for Downtown Conroe as many people love being and living downtown, and adequate residential downtown living has been something the area has lacked.

Simonton-Cable: spring 2025

The new Simonton-Cable building addition will exist on the corner of Main above the well known and established Flour-ish. The first floor will be reserved for retail while the second through fourth floors will offer executive suites and include a rooftop terrace accessible to the fourth floor.

This building’s history dates back to 1918 when a partnership between Henry Monroe Cable and Rube Simonton owned and operated the Simonton-Cable Motor Company Ford Dealers from the location.

In conclusion these developments look like wonderful additions to the Downtown Conroe area we all love so much. This will allow residents to live downtown creating a lot more foot traffic for local restaurants, bars, boutiques, music venues, theaters, and all of the other wonderful things downtown has to offer.
